Lava rock is a very common decorative stone and is used as ground covers, pond liners (for its exceptional ability for pond plants to establish quickly), and is commonly used as media for bio-filters.

The best way to describe this stone is "Crushed Grey Slate". It is 2" - 3" in size, 1/2" thick. This stone is actually a bi-product of a Slate Mining Company in Virginia. Nice ground cover stone and good in walkways because of its flat surface. Another popular use for this stone is in "dry river beds", this stone has a "blueish" hue to it that gives it the appearance of water.

Stone Bark?? What is this? Well, it's almost just what it says... It is a 1" rounded stone that is dark to light brown in color and VERY lightweight. Upclose, the texture of the stone looks like little "wood chips", and from a distance it looks like wood mulch instead of stone.
